What Does Psoriasis Look Like
So what does psoriasis look like? Well, psoriasis comes in a lot of shapes and forms. The main type of psoriasis is called “plaque psoriasis”. This type of psoriasis typically looks like this:
The next form of psoriasis is called Guttate Psoriasis. This form of psoriasis is less scaly than plaque psoriasis and typically comes in the shape of small red bumps and dots that appears in unison on certain spots of the body.

The next main form of psoriasis is called inverse psoriasis or flexural psoriasis. The form of psoriasis typically grows in moist areas of the body, such as under the arm pits, on the testicles, under the breasts or between the butt crack region.

The next main form of psoriasis is called pustular psoriasis. This type of psoriasis come in the shape of raised red bumps with a layer of thick scaly skin in the center.
This type of psoriasis typically grows on the hands or feets on the body. Also, can grow on other areas of the body.
The last main two forms of psoriasis I am going to are two forms of psoriasis that affect me most. These are scalp and nail psoriasis! These forms of psoriasis causes the scalp to grow plaques of raised red skin and flakes and also causes your nails to grow extremely thick and to grow off the nail bed.

Now I know you may feel disheartened that you may have psoriasis, but there is hope for you!
My Personal Journey With Psoriasis
I have learned a lot about psoriasis over the years. I started getting psoriasis on my scalp/nails when I was just 18 years old and it was so embarrassing to me. It made me hate going to get a hair cut or shaking hands with people. But it is something I have grown to live with and to just accept.
I have learned how to treat my psoriasis and to help prevent it from growing and getting worse.
What Is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is an autoimmune response that is a genetic trait that is handed down from parent to child. Psoriasis is basically caused by allergies that causes your immune system to freak out and start attacking itself.
According to Dr. Joel Wallach, Psoriasis and other skin disorders stem from a hyper-allergy to gluten products. He recommends a diet without wheat, barley, rye or oats.
Also, from personal experience I have noticed that dairy products such as cheese really causes my psoriasis to flare up.
My Psoriasis Journey And How I Helped Slow Down The Growth And Spread Of My Scalp Psoriasis and Nail Psoriasis
Like I mentioned above, I learned from listening to Joel Wallach’s radio show called “Dead Doctor’s Don’t Lie” in which he mentions how psoriasis and all skin conditions are derived from an allergen to certain products – mainly gluten products. He said that psoriasis suffers need to go on a gluten free diet. He also mentioned how you need more fish oil to help with the dried up skin.
I noticed after I went gluten-free that my psoriasis seems to get better and quit swelling up like it did in the past. This was a great start…
I then heard from another nutritionist by the name of Ben Fuchs that you should create a journal of all the foods that cause you to have auto-immunal responses – such as: runny nose, red cheeks, itchiness, etc. …. by doing that I was able to eliminate the foods that inflame my stomach and cause me to break out larger psoriasis red patchy legions.
Mr. Fuchs also recommended to take 5,000 IU’s of vitamin D3 a day and to take 20,000 IU of vitamin A a day.
After awhile, I got a regimen and followed it. I was surprised I not only improved my psoriasis, but my I also lost 60 pounds on my new diet – went from 240 to a handsome 180!
Some other things I do to aid in my psoriasis – I used T-Gel shampoo. That stuff works wonders for helping with the itchiness. I also like to sit in the sun for 20-30 minutes a day. For some reason, vitamin d3 from the sun is amazing at helping psoriasis.
Now, my psoriasis hasn’t fully cleared up – but it is MUCH better and my lesions have shrunk considerably and quit growing at an alarming rate like they did before my regimen! I am a definitely a happier person.
